Releases OCTOBER 11th!
UNTIL OCTOBER 1st, send me proof of your pre-order and get CM Prequel Short Story ‘Runtime‘ for Free!
If you’re seeing this for the first time, I’m RoAnna Sylver and Chameleon Moon is my really cool book about a bunch of LGBTQA (all of em), disabled, neurodivergent, poly people with super-abilities trapped in a perma-burning city over a lake of fire, trying to escape, find out why Everything’s On Fire… and what’s happening Outside. (This is a new thing if you read before~) The setting is pretty intense – given, since the genre is dystopian, but the theme is hope (dys-hope-ian!) and a… Very Firm Rejection of Grimdarkness and despair (dys-nope-ian?), and about everyone Surviving with the Power of Love, Trust, Rock n’Roll, and Generally Being Amazing And Not Dying. (Also, superpowers.)
The city of Parole is burning. Like Venice slips into the sea, Parole crumbles into fire, its entire population quarantined and left to die, directly over the open flame. Regan, stealth expert with a lizard’s skin, will do anything to escape. The ghostly Hans offers one: it just takes a little murder. Sonic superheroine Evelyn has a mission: keep everyone alive, don’t look down, and don’t give up. If they do, they’ll all burn. Parole’s a rough place to live, but they’re not dead yet. If they can survive the imminent cataclysmic disaster, they might just stay that way…
You might notice CM, 2nd Edition is missing one important thing. A cover. That’s because until the end of September (final day October 1st!), I’m running a cover art contest. I am an artist, and I probably could do this myself (I drew Runtime’s cover!) but… I’d rather open it up and let everybody play. You’ve been amazing to me all this time.
(And I really believe it’ll get a cover. An incredible one. I have to admit, it is a little bit scary, not having a definite cover and putting my book up for pre-order, it is. But I also believe in trust, and the love and amazing community that I’ve seen and been a part of here over the years. I believe everything is going to be okay. If I tell you that, I have to believe it for myself. <3)
So please check that out – and the awesome things people have done so far! because no matter what you got – not just art, music works, writing, cosplay, anything! I want to see! ALL entries get the free prequel short story Runtime…
Parole’s fire-ravaged streets are fragile and treacherous, but filled with secrets and rewards if you know how to run them. Tonight’s run went off without a hitch. All stealth and surveillance expert Regan has to do is get home alive. But a grinning ghost named Hans is about to make him an offer nobody in this fiery prison can refuse: escape. All he has to do is betray everyone he loves. Welcome to Parole, where the fire is always burning, and everyone is always running out of time.
Yep, if you really can’t think of anything for the contest, but still want Runtime… you can pre-order that for 99 cents. Or get it now, for free, if you send me proof of your CM Second Edition pre-order. 😀 (Screencap your receipt and message/tag me, whatever works is fine.) I wrote it so that people who have never read the first book could still enjoy it, and it’ll act as an introduction to the series relaunch. …And if you want to join the contest but haven’t read Book 1… just talk to me. I’m getting that a lot. It’s cool.
Just… wow. I am so excited. I had a lot of fun the first time – but now that I got a chance to relaunch my series? (Watch out for Book 2 in December…) Wow. This time I’m just gonna do everything… better. One of the main protags? Always asexual, but now he’s ace on-page, like his author. (Uh, in real life.) Another important char? Zilch was always NB, but now with the intended they/them pronouns. And there was much rejoicing.
Since getting my rights back, the ride has been wild, the push has been extreme, and I’m tired – but super happy. This is gonna be good, I can feel it. ❤ Thank you so much for being here. Thank you for the word-of-mouth, the boosts and the love, I know that’s how I got as far as I did, you guys. so much. I’ll never stop saying thank you.
